Will web 3.0 be web 3.no_more_anonymity?

I have been reading some articles lately about how the Social Media Sites aren’t making the money they should (Facebook, Youtube) or no money at all (Twitter). On Dutch radio I have listened to quite some news and discussions on how news-sites also aren’t making enough money, causing some newspapers (physical) to stop offering a web portal to their news and articles.

Since I started hearing about web 2.0 (the interaction Internet) of which I already was part, I started thinking about what web 3.0 is going to be. What will be the next big transition? I hope and think it will offer a more safe internet, an internet where reliable information is easily found AND shared with others.

But the current internet is already so big in order of existing sites and options for hackers/web-criminals to infect your computer with spyware, shareware, phisingware or whatever kind of –ware, which in the end will cost your money or time, probably both. If I use a windows XP or Vista machine I really hate the constant security pop ups from the firewall, virus scanner or the OS itself. I know the right thing to do it go for a Mac machine (which I have been doing for the last 10 years) but I also realize windows won’t likely stop being popular (read: widespread) anytime soon. I think the era of web 3.0 will probably be here faster.

I think the is a change the new internet will have two big features:

1. Safety

2. Reliable information

In order to offer these two things it has to be made very hard to bring bad software to the internet and both news sources and social interaction sites have to be making enough money to maintain a high level of reliability.

This makes me thing that there is a change the new internet won’t be as anonymous anymore as it is now. Will it be a “gated” internet where you enter to one “Door” and from there on be monitor, rated and checked for criminal internet activities? It will make it able to catch up with the internet criminals faster, but would mean we have to give up anonymity. Surfing the internet trough this door would also mean you can be very easily identified by the websites/services you visit. Instant log in and access to your internet account I would like to see happen, a lot like openID but working this time.

When I visit a site like the New York Times via this new internet, it would be also very easy to charge me .10 for an article or a few cents for any information. This would mean the people writing them can be paid for their work and giving the opportunity to research and do their work well.

With a service like twitter not having a earning-model, and it obvious it REALLY isn’t making ANY money, but costing a ton to maintain, I see a real possibility we will have to start paying money for the use of them in the future. If it isn’t going to be paying money, then it sure is going to see more targeted ads, and how better to target ads to people you are monitoring since the entered the internet “door”?

I would be a lot like a phone contract, pay as you go for the things you use. If this would happen, we probably wouldn’t be paying for the type of internet connection we use (slow/fast/cable/ect) but for the things we do with our connection.

Having this typed down, it leaves me with some questions for you:
