First off: I am know by friends and family as quite the mac fan-boy. Refusing to use windows and owning macs since I was 13. I always try to spread the love and really do love my macs/apple products. OSX is superior to windows on all kind of levels, but more importantly MY level:
I am an inter netter, use all kinds of web 2.0 apps and run photoshop for small baller things. I use e-mail, twitter, own a digital camera and like music. I also like to do all kinds of things at the same time and I take my computers everywhere I go. For me, OSX is the way to go.

But in promoting Apple I always used the “really nice built quality” argument. But here’s the thing: I own a 2.0 macbook white which I bought in January 2008. I totally love the machine and it was running as stable as it could be. Only the casing of the case sucks, it keeps cracking (had it replaced twice) and breaking off. I don’t have it with me right now so I will update this post with pictures later. for now google will have to do:

I recently had some real big/good days at playing poker so I decided to upgrade to the expensive macbook aluminum 2.4 Ghz with 4GB o memory (after market upgrade from corsair, wich SHOULD be compatible, just dit it today). I not migrate from my old system and went on with it. I didn’t notice any speed difference but its still a fast machine. I cleaned up my old macbook and then migrated it to the new macbook. For a night all things went real nice…. Next day it had all time of errors with syncserver (ate up my memory) and had to go to all kind of shit to fix it. I have had errors about adobe flash player at least 4 times and safari closed on my also about 10 times already. iSync I can’t even open without waiting for 10 minutes and finder is slow as hell… Maybe I am just ranting but this is not good IMHO.

The alu unibody and screen are EXTREMELY nice and sturdy, but the latch for the battery seems to have a bit of “room”, leaving me to think it will cause me problems in the near future…. again a bit disappointed.

Finally I have an iPhone, I have had it for 1,5 years now, obviously it’s a 1st gen. I LOVE it, use e-mail, twitter, games, music (with album covers) and am a heavy caller. Lately it’s really starting to suck more and more. It loses signal about 4-5 times a day. It says sim-locked whenever it likes, keeping me off line and in need to enter PIN again. The vibrate function doesn’t exist in myPhone and the camera takes split pictures…

I never felt so negative about my Apple products and I am wondering if the quality I love apple for is not a valid reason anymore. I hope it’s just me hitting a few bad things and hopefully I am a regular @guykawasaki once again in a few days. Right now I just feel bummed and not to happy about Apple.
